Unit Plans

Attached through the link below is a six week, fully integrated Social Studies unit I completed during my second placement while in the Tri-Placement Credential Candidate Teacher Preparation Program. The unit is based around family histories and traditions. It is entitled, "Families: then and now" and was a variation from a base lesson created by Houghton Mifflin. I was able to make connections throughout other content areas such as: Math with the usage of a daily timeline manipulative that allowed students to identify daily events as either AM or PM, Language Arts (Reading and Writing) through various writer’s workshop lesson variations, Visual Arts through storyboard drawings and family tree diagrams, Theater through acting and role playing, and Computer Technology through typing and publishing their family history stories. In the beginning of the planning process, I was able to sit back with the standards and see where the class was in other subject areas in order to plan some of the connections I wanted to make.
